Present book on Yoga philosophy comes to the light when whole world is looking for a healing science and technologies to overcome the dis balances and disharmonies experiencing in physical mental and social health of many individuals. The balancing mechanisms leading to environmental friendly healthy lives are deeply rooted in both Ayurveda as well as the Yogi teachings, thus the book will help the readers to understand basic theories and concepts of the yogi philosophy and practice them to maintain a healthy life.
It is worth mentioning that book is written by the authors after gathering considerable experience in yoga teaching at many institutions including undergraduate diploma and certificate program in Gampaha Ayurveda institute and the B.SC course on Green Technology in the faculty of agriculture, University of Ruhuna, Matara.
Prof. K.D.N. Weerasinghe the principal author of the book has more than 35 years of academic experience in the Ruhuna university as a senior professor of Agric. Engineering and Dean of the faculty of agriculture. He has gone through the Yoga and Ayurveda methods of teaching and research two year the Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute is a internationally recognised scientist with expertise in many areas.
Mr. Leelananda Wickramarachchi is a B.sc graduate of the Kelaniya University who devoted his entire life in Yoga teaching and research. He has gained wider experiences in number of Yoga centres in many countries in Asia, including, India, Thailand, Burma. He has already authored three Yoga books. He is the principal academician of the diploma and certificate courses of the Yoga and relaxation techniques programmes offered in GWAI. He is one of the pioneer authors who attempted to mix Yoga with traditional marshal arts such as angampora in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Somi Palliyaguru has served in many universities of Sri Lanka, who got Yoga training from India and completed both diploma and certificate courses of Yoga and mental training in GWAI.
The authors has written the book in both Sinhala and English languages so that it could be used internationally. I wish the authors to come out with similar books to heal the burning problems of the society by adopting and mixing traditional knowledge with modern knowledge.
