Description
De Wolvendaalshe Kerk
Time, Like an Ever- Rolling Stream
DE WOLVENDAALSGHE KERK was first published in 1938, revised in 1957 and reprinted in 1982 Thereafter, for many years it went out of print.
The English text as written by Dr Richard Leslie Brohier in 1938, has been closely followed.
The text still refers to Ceylon instead of Sri Lanka, because it reflects the situation of the Wolvendaal Church in the year 1938. References to time and place have, to a great extent, also been maintained so as not to dilute the original text. Compared to the original print of 1938, the number of annexes has been changed and new subjects have been added by the editors in order to make this Brochure more interesting for the present- day reader.
The original English text was translated into Dutch by Maria Jurriaanse, who in the late 1930s was in Ceylon as Assistant Archivist of the Department of Archives. Most of the somewhat traditional Dutch has been retained in this issue as it closely reflects the time in which the original text was written.
