Description
Foreword- Business & corporate affairs
I wish to compliment Mr. Sunil Karunanayaka For producing this informative book titled “Business & Corporate Affairs” which is a thought-provoking compendium of articles written by him to the Sunday Financial Times weekly column. Mr. Karunanayaka, my long-standing friend, brings his years of experience as a journalist and a fellow Chartered Accountant to this book on a wide ranging areas from economics, banking & finance, law and sports.
I am pleased to see that Mr. Karunanayaka has selected a period for his analysis where the field of Business & Corporate Affairs in Sri Lanka has witnessed some significant changes. During 2005 to 2011, Sri Lanka moved to a high growth trajectory with a number of achievements including the significant improvement in our country‘s macroeconomic stability, development in infrastructure, reduction in poverty and increase employment. The country is now poised to forge ahead in an accelerated development path in the coming years, and this was achieved despite many domestic as well as external shocks contained in this book will help also to reflect upon the new areas in the emerging economy which would fast track the journey towards development and at the same time, attempt to understand the many challenges faced by the country.
The writer has the uncanny ability to express profound and complex issues and arguments in a simple and easily digestible manner and his willingness to share his knowledge with others is indeed praiseworthy. With this book, many will get an opportunity to share the extensive and deep insights of areas relating to business and corporate affairs.
